I have been working with companies that are merging aspects of Agile and their former approach which was largely an APQP / stage gate approach. I have noticed that this does not seem to displace the APQP approach including the stage gate, however, within the stage gate are now sprints of very specific objectives and duration. Are there others whose experience is similar in seeing stage gate migrate to this agile approach but not really losing the core Advanced Product Quality Planning elements processes and artifacts? It has long been my contention that a mash up is more appropriate than a tearing down of one and building of another. The truth is there is no silver bullet for anything in product development, it is situational dependent.
