We will see more of a merge between conventional projects and agile. I have seen some applications that mash together of agile and conventional project management techniques in an effort to maintain some level of control and adaptability as well as create a sustainable approach to the project management effort. The need for speed of delivery will not abate; neither will the complexity of product development and even the product itself. To be successful, future projects will need to adapt and make the most of the talent of our organization and our project teams. Agile taps into the talent within the team and adapts to circumstances as these are presented to the team - ideally our agile team is a self-directed work team that is continuously learning. This mind set will move more into conventional approaches to project management as well.
