I think so, and I think these tools are helpful to try to make sense of the symptoms that present.

  1. Check sheet.
  2. Control chart.
  3. Flow chart or run chart.
  4. Pareto chart.
  5. Histogram.
  6. Cause-and-effect diagram also known as fishbone or Ishikawa diagram.
  7. Scatter diagram.


I believe these tools can be helpful for any project manager and any project team members. In fact, these tools are so easy to learn, having a team that knows these tools are likely a benefit. These tools help us understand what is going on rather than the often jumping to conclusions, and the assumption of how things work.
