Java is one of the leading programming languages because of its amazing features: great performance, multi-threading feature which allows one to build highly interactive & responsive apps, safety features, readily available frameworks, open-source libraries and what not.
One of the biggest perks is that you can run Java programs on any machine as long as you have JRE in place
